ZERO STARS, made a reservation for mother in law. Booked through booking and she arrived to find out they can’t run the card thats on file for whatever reason with booking. Told me I had to cancel the reservation with booking and to reserve directly with them so after trying to figure it out and calling booking they said there’s no reason why on your end (who handles payment since booking handles the reservation) you can’t charge the card that you have already in your system. Fine, we call Booking they send over cancel request since you guys make the call. Afterwards you guys tell me now I can’t reserve anything with you guys and you can’t run my card over the phone like you guys said I can. You guys gave me a number to call so they can receive payment and transfer to hotel. After speaking with them they also said you guys shouldn’t be having any issues and is something that can be solved. Mind my mother in law apart from a 3 hour plus trip to get there, she had to wait hours and had no way for me or anyone to send her money from it being late. If you guys were to pick up any of the phone calls made each day prior we could have resolved this prior. Left my mother in law out in the streets basically with no money and late out when at the end of the day this was something you guys could have handled. HORRIBLE SERVICE

Rooms were great. Excellent service... good food. Premium service excellen. They have activities for the little ones at night. The only thing was that the wifi was not working and the tv control either.
Tyey should provide schedule for all available activities so we can do more and plan what to do with the family...

Seems that this resort is primarily for local families. It is extremely peaceful, serves a good variety of food, and a great place to unwind. Still, there is no liquor provided in the rooms, the liquor at the bar is bottom shelf, and make sure you brush up on your Spanish (I can speak conversational Spanish so I was fine, but if you don't know any Spanish you will have a difficult time).
I most likely will select an adults only all-inclusive resort closer to an airport in the future, but I appreciate the experience.

I spent 4 days at Barceló Tambor, the truth was an unparalleled experience, the food, the pools, the drinks and the shows, everything was excellent. Some problems that I find is that being so cheap, it gets very crowded. Also, that the food is not as good as in other resorts. Some recommendations for people who want to go, is that if they are going with children, watch them carefully as they can get hurt very easily.

It was okay. The hotel needs to be updated. The food was okay but they needed more options at the buffet. I got the premium package and it was mainly good for the room space but it didn’t really include anything special. The staff were friendly but it’s not like other hotels where you can be by the beach and staff comes to offer you drinks or anything else from the bar. Overall it was okay but not luxury.

Recently I went with my parents to this hotel to rest after so much office work. We have gone to this hotel many times before the pandemic and I can say that the customer service was excellent. We had a wonderful time, especially they treated us very well in the reception area and in the food areas. Due to my gluten-free vegan diet, on several occasions they made me a specialized dish (very good tasting and excellent presentation). We managed to get the relaxation we needed on this trip. The hotel has been giving maintenance to the facilities during this pandemic time and it looks great. I want to give special thanks to the following people: Heriberto (chef), Luis (cook), Abner (cook), Guillermo (food court), Herberth (customer service), Jessica (restaurant supervisor) and Michelle (receptionist). Thank you all!!

Great place to stay. Good food, mostly nice staff, beautiful place. I did not appreciate a certain entertainment staff member approaching me and telling me they need help. This person asked me to look up the hotel on my phone, clicked on my phone to give the hotel a 5 star review and asked me to say something good about them. I hadn’t ever seen this staff member before.

The property here is amazing. Most of the staff are pleasant and helpful. There is so much wild life to see, from Iguanas to monkeys. The beach is in a cove and there are mountains on both sides. An incredible view. I've read reviews complaining that the shows are only in Spanish but you are in Costa Rica and I think the shows in Ontario are in english as well. The food is okay and very repetitive. By the end of the week I had lost my appetite but this is typical for an all inclusive. There were a few small glitches but the only one really worth mentioning is our shuttle back to the airport. They brought a bus to take us back to the airport and only accounted for the adults and not the four children with us so after putting our luggage on board with the kids, it was a crowded and uncomfortable 3+ hour ride to the airport. Almost seemed like since we were leaving, it was just let's shovel these people into the cheapest thing we can to get them out of here.
