Located in the pedestrian zone in the centre of Seefeld DAS Kaltschmid features 2 gourmet restaurants and a large spa area. The indoor pool offers panoramic mountain views. We were quite happy here and would recommend it. The hotel kindergarten is great if you have German speaking kids. The ladies there a bit bored but always tried to look and act positive. The wellness Centre great with beautiful saunas. The food was ok- a bit repetitive and definitely economical, they always try and recycle food from the previous day in a daily menu or at another dinner time. Location perfect. Come here if you are Hungarian, most of the staff are Hungarian, with some Slovaks. Free cake in the afternoon a very nice gesture. Also children get some little presents on arrival and departure and are highly tolerated for all bad behaviour by staff. A kid threw up at the next table and the waitress did not bat an eyelid. Parking bad. Beds too soft and bathroom very small. Times of meals a bit too late for our taste. Also, a lot of the meals clearly pre prepared and defrosted, not Made fresh. They present them well, though. The swimming pool highly chlorined, so my whole family came home with a rash. Overall, they try to pretend being more exclusive than they really are and the fees are a bit too high. Some staff not very friendly when you spoje English.

Very warm and friendly atmosphere and really lovely staff. Room was immaculate & food was exceptional (both dinner & breakfast). Can't recommend this place enough...….definitely worth a trip. Thanks to the staff and especially Ferenc (restaurant) for making my stay so perfect.

Unfortunately, this is not a hotel that cares for its guests. Booked directly on the hotel's website. At check in I was informed the booking didn't include breakfast which was news to me. Nowhere in my booking confirmation did it say that. Upon challenging that I was told I have no options as the hotel is 'fully booked'. Not true as it turned out, on the spot I went online and booked myself a room with breakfast for a lower price than my booking originally was. The staff at reception cared very little, spoke little English or German. Initially, they wanted to give me a half-board package as that's how confused they are. The room I was allocated was very, very dated and unattractive. No sign of a family hotel feel or care. I have been coming to Seefeld for the past 20 years and wanted to give this hotel a shot. There are many, many far better options around! Avoid the Kaltschmid hotel.

The rooms were rather small and some looked rather tired. The bath in our room seemed to be back to front as the shower area was at the slope side of the bath, not plug hole end, which meant that there was not much space to stand safely for the shower and the bathroom became rather wet outside of the shower area. The service in the dining room showed that some training is required. We did not like our plates being removed from the table whilst other diners in our party were still eating. We felt rushed during our meal and then we were told off because we wanted to take our drinks from the dining room to the lounge area. We had to return them to the dining room where they would be poured down the drain and then we had to pay at the bar for the same drinks again. I don't think I will return.

We had a fantastic 1-week stay in Das Kaltschmid in Seefeld Tirol. First time in this familotel, and we loved it and I think we will certainly come back! The PRO's: Super cosy atmospheric idyllic hotel. The location of the hotel is fantastic. Next to the pedestrian zone, middle of the centrum. Not far from ski areas as well. Big hotel with at least 3 restaurants, and couple of bars. The reception +lobby+bar is really unique and gemütlich Austrian. Love it. Nice swimming pool and wellness with almost always some luck to find a relaxing spot. The whirlpool on the top is really unique as well. The à la carte restaurants we found really good and atmosphere with nice live music. (Most of the) staff were very friendly. Billiard, ski material zone, play tables at the bar, half board, multiple elevators... All very good. Our room was also really great, spacy enough and storage place enough. The CONTRA's: At check-in time (and multiple times during our stay) we had a receptionist who almost didn't speak English and always had to ask help to the colleagues. Then I had to repeat my question... Etc. Really annoying. Probably she was new, so no drama... Breakfast was not good for me, really ALWAYS the same, no variation at all and not my favorite things. OK for some people it will be OK I think. Room was always very hot, we opened the window most of the time and stopped the heating immediately, but still.. One night with almost no sleep due to very loud constant noise from some machines. Also during breakfast always a bonking noise. During diner a pitty full of little kids around us, schouting, crying and loud toy sounds... In the halfboard dining place, almost everybody finished diner before 8..'so after 8 you can be there almost alone🤣 No mini bar, temperature control, glasses in the room. In any case we loved it, maybe some improvement points, and hope to be able to come back👍👍👍
