Great location as most places you would want to visit are within walking distance. The facilities are clean but seem tired/well used. The hostel rules are made with good intention but only work if followed by everyone. Unless one is on a very tight budget or wants to partake in the social aspect of a hostel experience, one may as well stay elsewhere.

We got a private room with en-suite (reasonably priced for Iceland) and it was a lot nicer than expected.
Very roomy and our room faced the harbour area which was a lovely view.
Service was good, didn't have to wait at all and the bar downstairs is great.
The only issue was the noise. We went on a Friday night and the bar downstairs was playing loud music until about midnight. This wasn't the issue as it's sort of to be expected on a Friday night. The main problem was the private event on the ground floor, at least 20 young men doing terrible and very loud karaoke until 1am. We could hear every word from our room and it seemed to annoy the hostel staff too.
I'm not sure if there's a way of knowing if this is gonna happen in advance but it definitely wasn't welcome the night before a long day of travelling home.
Excellent hostel, one of the best I've stayed in, terrible timing it seems.

Very neat vibe in the whole building! They have a bar/restaurant that had live music and lots of entertainment especially on the weekend. The rooms were fine, somewhat small but enough for a hostel if you’re not going to be in your room much. Bathrooms were alright, and kitchen was nice. Overall I had a good stay!

Stayed here for about a week. Super convenient location. Washrooms were ok but could be a bit better maintained. Social environment was nice. Stayed in the large room. Beds were good for comfort just wish they offered more pillows or something. Your experience sleeping will probably be luck of the draw depending on the randoms you bunk with. Some nights were peaceful sleeps and others not so much. For the price, it's a really good spot and I would consider revisiting.

This really is the gold standard of hostels. I stayed here multiple times during my trip in Iceland and I couldn't fault it. The dorms tick all the boxes: spacious, plenty of lockers, tables, comfy beds, each bed having two power sockets and a lamp, blackout curtains. The communal kitchen is kept clean, have everything you need and there's always an abundance of free food (left by other guests) for frugal travellers. There's loads of toilets and showers that are always clean. The bar, lounge areas and outside beer garden are huge and a good place to meet people. There's a big store room where they let you store things for free which I really appreciated.
The receptionists are friendly and amazingly helpful. One of the ladies went out of her way to find a place to store my bike and was happy to answer all my questions and help me out with other things. 24hr reception is really handy too for late check-ins.
All in all a really well run, fun, and comfortable hostel. Will be back soon!
