Beautiful hotel. Spacious rooms with very nice bathrooms and comfy beds. Loved the evening happy hour and food at The Cafe was delicious! Staff was super nice and accommodating. Good location as it is close to Gaslight district and Little Italy. Pool looked nice but we stayed in January so did not use.

My husband brought me here for a child-free getaway for my birthday. Upon hearing that I am a breastfeeding mom, the staff had a specialty breast milk fridge brought to our room. They also had amazing bath salts delivered to help me relax in our free upgraded suite. The staff gave us some outstanding recommendations for food and drinks (shout out to the concierge for the Espresso Martini rec at Common Stock!). The breakfast on site was top notch and the bar tender poured a beautiful Lemongrass Gin drink during the social hour. And every single staff member was so kind and helpful. I cannot recommend this experience enough! Best. Birthday. Ever.

Love this Hotel. I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Kimpton San Diego for a work conference. I selected this hotel because we've stayed here before and I love the decor. Because they were remodeling, we stayed on the upgraded side and it was nothing short of beautiful. When I first walked in the staff was friendly, the location was clean and the lobby was full. I was given the suite on the 19th floor and it absolutely breathtaking. So spacious, clean and convenient to the elevator.
I did not get a chance to utilize all the amenities however I did walk around and check them out. One of the features that I enjoy about this hotel is the social hour. From 5:00 to 6:00, there is complimentary wine for the guests and just a nice vibe to socialize and Network.
Now I've said all these positive things because I really enjoy this hotel and I will be staying on my future trips in the area however the valet service was a bit disappointing. Although we call ahead for our cars to being delivered, it took such a long time. We did noticed the valet was not attentive as they should have been. They were on their phones frequently not noticing guest pulling up or standing and missing from the area but returning with coffee and treats from down the street but no coverage or signage indicating be right back.
Other than that if I could I would give them four and a half stars out of 5. I look forward to seeing the property once it's 100% renovated in the months to come.,

I had traveled here for my birthday week/weekend. The staff was very friendly and service was great however, huge downside was that the hotel was under renovations. Everywhere you turned there were massive black curtains to hide the construction work going on. In addition, this limits the amenities to the hotel; the "restaurant" had limited food and drink options and staff and the pool was gross. I loved my room, it's view and all but even with the hundreds of dollars of room credits I had, I chose to spend most of my time away from the hotel.

Although nestled in a somewhat questionable downtown area, this property is beyond amazing. The front desk staff, even during the busiest of hours, are always friendly and helpful. They greeted us with a smile and recognized our rewards membership status. Even though 1 of the 2 rooms were not ready yet, they were still on top of communications, making sure to update us. We were in SD celebrating my moms big birthday and they were kind of enough to upgrade her room. She was ecstatic, the room was gorgeous and amazing view. Everything was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel does a poor job advertising all of the things you won’t get during your stay. We got to our room and had a piece of paper under the door saying that they had issues with the water and it was temporarily off. Not exactly what you want to hear after a long day of travel. The restaurant is closed, which is understandable due to COVID. The rooftop pool bar is also closed, you can’t get so much as a water up there, which is confusing. The business center is closed, they are renovating. My husband and I asked if there was a place to work and were told “I think everything is locked”. The front desk staff seems to be all new, they can’t help you with any problems. I typically stay at Kimpton hotels and this is not true to the normal experience. For $200/night for a don’t room, spend your money elsewhere in San Diego. This hotel is a total mess.

Terrible hotel. Not up to standards of other Kimpton properties. Rooms are small, beat-up and staff still using COVID-19 as an excuse to do nothing for guests. No place to setup and work, and no coffee anywhere. Huge disappointment.

The night auditor was new to this job, to start with the fact that he wasn't able to charge my credit card for the payment. So I payed cash and he gave me the charge and adds that he still needs to charge on my card for deposit. Nothing to do so he wants to give me back the money and that's when he got a problem. He just counted the cash in the drawer and gave me the difference. I went next door and the card was working fine.

If I could do a zero I would!!
Hotel has the appearance to be "nice" especially for the price. Room definitely need to be upgraded! Watching TV from bed we need glasses to watch because the size of the tv and the distance to be the bed HORRIBLE. There was a large slit on our wall we had to get a chair to investigate. It appeared to be an uncovered air vent and starting distorting the wall. The towels felt like sandpaper on our bodies, ouch! Calcium build up all over your the floors. Curtains old, discolored and need to be replaced. To top it all off our trip was cut short because we woke up to a tick in our room. Yes a real life tick that was NOT there yesterday. The thought of waking up to tick disgusted me to the fullest! Do not waste your money!!!!

We just stayed here for our wedding and I’ll be honest, after reading reviews I was quite nervous that I had set up a room block here for our friends after reading some of the reviews. The hotel was lovely, Rebecca and Bobby were wonderful to work with! They have good coffee in the morning and the wine happy hour is such a nice touch! We stayed in a king corner suite, which was so spacious and perfect for getting ready the day of the wedding! The rest of our friend stayed in regular king rooms and those were also nice! We loved the pool as well! The bed was super comfy. I’d say my only complaint is the shower, there is a half glass between the shower and the rest of the bathroom and water does spray everywhere, so I just requested extra bath mats.

We did a morning stay as we arrived at 6am and needed somewhere quiet to work and rest up. This means we checked in at 7am and checked out at noon. The price for this was very reasonable, around half the rate for nights. Room was kinda small, but clean and tidy. View was also pretty good. Staff was normal nice, nothing over the top. No designated parking though, closest one would have to be in the structure directly across from it. It's a decent place overall, nothing to complain about.
